Cowgirl Zoe & Catboy Nate

Today, was "H" day at preschool & the kids were allowed to wear their favorite hat. Zoe chose her cowgirl hat that Daddy got her in Texas. Mommy paired it with her cowgirl shirt.

Nate decided to get in the fun & take a ride on Alex.

High Five!

Zoe got a HIGH FIVE AWARD from school today for helping her friends.

Trick or Treat

For trick or treat this year, Zoe said she wanted to be a princess. What a huge surprise this was to us!! Then, she said she wanted to be Jasmine, which actually was a surprise. I am pretty sure this was just a ploy to get another costume since we don't have Jasmine. Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty & Ariel we have, but no Jasmine. Anyway, the costume was really cute & she insisted that she needed Jasmine hair, thus the wig.

Nate didn't really have much to say about his costume. He went as Abu, Aladdin's monkey & was pretty cute himself.

Zoe had a great time getting candy from strangers with her friends Mary & Emma. Later, she did some more begging with Foster from across the street.

All in al,l trick or treat was great fun. The weather was terrific & Zoe got lots of good candy (lots of chocolate - Mommy's favorite). Yum!!

Pumpkins

Tonight, we trekked to the pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins & then carve them. Nate was all snug in his car seat & was probably wondering once again, what the heck we were doing.

I felt horrible, so Nate & I napped on the couch while Daddy & Zoe carved the pumpkins. They brought mine to me, so I could draw the face which Daddy then carved. Surprisingly, they then declared my pumpkin the best of the three.

Snow!!!

Yes, there was snow in the air today - no wonder I can't get warm. I may have to sleep with Nate.

Halloween Ballet

Today, at ballet & tap, the dancers dressed in their Halloween costumes.

We also got to see a dance from their tap class today. Sorry for the not so great camera work; I was holding Nathan at the same time. Also, the 2nd performance is cut off because a girl stood in front of me.

Creative Spanish Names

This afternoon, while playing with Play-Doh, Zoe had some creative "Spanish" names for the bunnies, she created using a mold.

They were Oranga, Greena, Purpla, Yellowa & Blua (which she told me were the Spanish colors).

I guess maybe she needs to watch some more Dora afterall.

Nate's Baptism

Tony & I attended the OSU-MSU game in East Lansing today. The weather was gorgeous & the game was a great surprise. Unfortunately, our seats weren't quite as good as the ones at the OSU-Ohio game.

Grandma & Poppa Bailey

Zoe & Nate enjoyed having Grandma & Poppa with us for most of the week (so did Mommy & Daddy - Mommy especially enjoyed the part where Grandma got up with Nate in the night; Daddy enjoyed the part where Poppa worked in the basement.)

Absurdly Cute

I smiled every time I looked at Nate today - he was just too cute in his Halloween outfit. He wasn't a huge fan of the hat, but I made him wear it (it's only so long that Mommies get to do that).

Free Labor

This weekend, Uncle Ben came to help us work on our basement. We decided we needed some more free labor & put the kids to work too. Admittedly, Nate really wasn't that much of a help.

Preschool Trip to the Apple Orchard

Zoe's Teachers - Miss Carver & Miss Sherry

Today, Zoe & Daddy went on the preschool field trip to Wiards Orchard in Ypsilanti. Zoe had a great time going on a hay ride, picking an apple & a pumpkin, playing in a hay loft, playing miniature golf, seeing animals & getting to run around with her friends from school.

Meow

Nate's 2 Month Doctor Visit

Suffice it say, Nate did not enjoy his 2 month check-up. The dislike is most likely related to the 4 shots he had to get. He did really well up until that point. His stats were:

11 lbs. 11 oz. - weight (50th percentile)

24 inches - length (60th percentile)

39 inches - head (50th percentile)

All in all he is well proportioned and doing well.

Nate's Best Friend

Nate loves his playmat & smiles up at his friend the star every time he sees it. Quite cute!

Silly Squirrel

Conversation this evening on the way to the store.

Zoe: "Mommy, what's that?" (referring the little dead fluffy puppy in the middle of the road)

Me: "What's what?" (So far, Tony & I have both managed to avoid teaching her anything about death & I don't really think this is appropriate time to discuss it. In this instance, I attempted to cleverly answer a question with a question, but 4 year olds are persistent.)

Zoe: "Oh, yeah, it is a squirrel."

Me: "Really."

Zoe: "Yeah, he must be sleeping. Silly squirrel sleeping in the road. He doesn't even know there are cars going by."

Me: "What a silly squirrel."

At this point, she went on to another subject & forget all about the silly sleeping squirrel. One of these days we'll cover the subject of death, but for the moment, we'll stick with the sleeping.

Frog in Our Window

As I was closing our front door tonight, I noticed this little teeny-tiny frog sitting on the outside ledge of our sidelight window. At first, I thought it was a Littlest Pet Shop toy. It must have made quite the leap to get up on the window...at least 4 feet. I almost went & woke up Zoe to see it, but we all know that you never wake a sleeping baby/child unless you really, really, have to...

Nate @ 8 weeks

I can't believe how much Nate has changed already.

Time really does fly & they do grow up so fast.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

This afternoon, we helped cousin Sarah celebrate her 6th birthday at Bounce U. Zoe had a great time & Sarah got some great gifts. Nate remained relatively unimpressed although he seemed to enjoy the loudness of it all.

Head Obsessed

For some reason, Zoe really is obsessed with Nate's head & is constantly touching it. A few weeks ago, I joked she was going to rub off what little hair he has. Now, I think, she might actually do it.

Parent/Child Day

For Parent/Child Day today at her preschool, Zoe wore her big sister shirt.

She **loves** her big sister shirt and wants to wear it almost everyday. Tony has told her that she is still a big sister even if she doesn't wear the shirt (just in case this is the reason for the obsession).
