Tonight Zoe helped her school friend Morgan celebrate her birthday at Pump-It-Up.

Riverdance

Tonight, Miss Susan watched Nate while Zoe, Tony & I went downtown to see Riverdance. Zoe enjoyed the show although she still indignant about the fact that I woke her up to see the end.

Bunny Ears

Zoe made these ears at school today.

Happy or Sad?

Zoe was looking at her new Wedding Day Sparkles Bride & Groom this morning & asked me to read the back of the boxes. On the groom box, the poem goes:

"Today he marries

the girl of his dreams

Just look how her dress

sparkles and gleams

He waits, so happy

at the end of the aisle

For his bride to appear

with her glowing smile"

From this, Zoe deduced that the bride's teeth must glow in the dark (which made me think of the Friends episode where Ross over whitens his teeth which would make a pretty scary doll.) Then, looking at the groom, Zoe asked if he was happy or sad. She concluded that he must be sad because his mouth was straight, not smiling. And, she's right, he does look at little sad. You would think that he would have a little bit of a smile since "He waits, so happy". I guess maybe they were really trying to capture the true essence of the groom...

We continued the safari theme from the Jungle Java party to Zoe's family party.

Zoe's Birthday Supper

Zoe chose to go to Red Robin for her birthday supper. She had onion rings, grilled cheese & melon for dinner followed by an ice cream sundae. Apparently, Nate isn't a big fan of this restraurant.

Happy Birthday Zoe!

Zoe started her birthday off with presents from Mommy, Daddy & Nate. She received phone calls from her grandmas & poppas. In the afternoon, she celebrated with her friends at Jungle Java followed by dinner at Red Robin.

Hula Hoop

Grandma Bailey sent Zoe $5 for Valentine's Day & after much deliberation, Zoe decided to buy a hula hoop. This is what we found when checked in on Zoe before we went to sleep. She really, really likes her hula hoop.

Skinny - redefined

Me: "You are?"

Zoe: "Yes, look at my legs and arm. (She holds her arm up to my eye.) See?"

Me: "What do you think skinny means?"

Zoe: "I don't know. Having too much skin?"

Happy St. Patrick's Day

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, we all made sure to wear our green. Zoe did some St. Patrick Day crafts & puzzles. For supper we had shepherd's pie, Irish soda bread, Lime Sherbert punch & shamrock cookies. To keep with the green theme, Nate had yummy peas.

Zoe's Sandwich

Today, Zoe made her sandwich for lunch all by herself. Not too bad...

It smells beautiful

After getting out of the car on the way into school, Zoe says, "Hmmm....it smells....it smells like March out here. It smells beautiful."

And indeed it does. We are having a beautiful "spring" day today. Too bad, most of the family is sick & can't really enjoy it.

Today, we celebrated Fat Tuesday by making masks & decorations & having a New Orleans style dinner. Zoe had a great time making her mask & even liked the food - especially the king cake.

A Wii Day

Since we were all still tired from the water park, we had a PJ day today. I let Zoe play way too much Wii & watch way too much TV, but she enjoyed it.

Splash Universe

This weekend, we met Mom, Dave, Ben, Aunt Kathy, Tom, Joella, Randy, Carson & Ava at Splash Universe in Dundee, MI. We all had a great, but exhausting time. Zoe rode all of the slides, even the big ones.

A New Way to Sleep

We've been struggling with Nate and his sleeping for about a week now (a very long week). It started last Thursday night when he screamed for hours & hours - even while you were holding him, nothing would comfort his. I ended up holding him for four hours while he slept & then Tony took over & he did sleep in his crib for a couple of hours. We are not sure what this was about, but he did have a little bit of a cold. Teething, maybe, no teeth yet. (He had night like this when he was a few weeks old.) Since that day getting him to sleep has been quite a chore, especially now that he can roll to his tummy. He doesn't stay swaddled anymore, but he can't comfort himself if he isn't swaddled. His hands are out of control & pull his binky out. Last night, we decided he has to learn to fall asleep on his own, not swaddled. After about 4 hours of crying last night, he finally fell asleep. Today, he fell asleep pretty quickly for his morning nap, but it took him an hour of crying to fall asleep for his afternoon nap. Both times, he has fallen asleep on his tummy. Hopefully, he will quickly adjust to sleeping without being swaddled.
